Cingireddi Narayana Reddy is
a well-known Telugu poet and educational administrator. Dr. Reddy was nominated
to the Upper House of Indian Parliament in August 1997. He is deeply interested
in medieval Urdu poetic traditions and more particularly in the Ghazal form.
As a master in two languages, Telugu and Urdu, he has imbibed influences of
Urdu poetry in his Telugu poetry.

Childhood and Education:
Dr C. Narayana Reddy was born in 1931 into a middle class agricultural
family in a backward village of Hanumajipet, Karimnagar District, Telangana.
In those days there was no graduate in the village except for only a small ‘Veedhi
Badi’. In those days there was only Urdu Medium in Taluk level.
To study 4th class, he went to Sirisilla Taluk Headquarters. He had a creative
urge to write and sing songs. He was self-inspired. He started writing songs
in 8th class. In 8th class while all the subjects were in Urdu, there was only
one Telugu class. After 10th class he has completed his BA. He worked as MA
Telugu lecturer in Osmania University. There was only one student in his class.
While writing poems and songs he also used to read modern and classical literature
in Hindi, English, Telugu, and Urdu. He did PhD.

“Time is more valuable than money. It should be given the top priority.”

“Priorities must be fixed. We have to compartmentalize the meetings with people. There are admirers, equals and fans. We have to deal with these people appropriately.”

“Postponement is equivalent to post-mortem.”

“Adjustment, without lowering my personality.”

“ A scholar without ego inspires me. I hate egoistic scholarship.”
